Desfile de carros alegóricos por el Día del Orgullo Gay

Delegaciones de siete organizaciones de grupos GLBTI (Gays, Lesbianas, Bisexuales, Transexuales e Intersexo) participaron el sábado 29 en un desfile por el Día del Orgullo Gay que recorrió el bulevar de Guayaquil.

Al denominado Festival de la Diversidad Cultural del Guayas, sin Estigma y sin Discrimación, asistieron activistas y miembros de la comunidad GLBTI de las provincias de Los Ríos, Manabí, Pichincha, Azuay, así como de otros cantones del Guayas.

Según los organizadores hubo 18.300 personas, 1.300 más que el año pasado; los concurrentes cubrieron las calles céntricas de Guayaquil para hacer eco de sus derechos y pedir tolerancia a la sociedad en general.

El centro se pintó de colores por el paso de más de 20 carrozas que participaron en la marcha que culminó un festival artístico cerca del parque Centenario.

Unos caminaban ataviados con trajes coloridos,  mientras que otros portaban pancartas, globos y banderas. Durante el trayecto se gritaron consignas a favor de los derechos de los GLBTI, y del matrimonio igualitario.

A lo largo del bulevar hubo transeúntes que se detenían a mirar el desfile que cubrió varias cuadras.

«Soy lesbiana y no me importa lo que digan los demás», gritó Helen G., de 18 años, quien por segundo año consecutivo asistió a esta caminata de 15 cuadras que partió desde la avenida Malecón y calle Aguirre, y avanzó por la avenida 9 de Octubre hasta llegar a la intersección de Santa Elena y Lorenzo de Garaicoa.

“A pesar de la tolerancia que se percibe en ciertas personas, hay otras que áun nos discriminan. Esto es un trabajo de hormiga, avanza de a poco, pero con paso firme y la paciencia es lo primordial”, expresó Angie Maire.

Parade of floats for the Gay Pride Day

Delegations from seven organizations GLBTI groups (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) participated on Saturday 29 in a parade Gay Pride Day which toured Guayaquil Boulevard.

When called Cultural Diversity Festival of Guayas, without stigma and without-Discrimination, attended activists and members of the LGBTI community of the provinces of Los Rios, Manabi Pichincha, Azuay, and other cantons of Guayas.

According to the organizers there were 18,300 people, 1,300 more than last year, the attendees covered the central streets of Guayaquil to echo their rights and ask for tolerance in society in general.

The center is painted in colors by the passage of over 20 floats taking part in the march that culminated an arts festival near Centennial Park.

Some walked dressed in colorful costumes, while others held banners, balloons and flags. On the way, shouting slogans in favor of the rights of LGBTI, and marriage equality.

Along the boulevard there were passersby who stopped to watch the parade that covered several blocks.

«I’m a lesbian and I do not care what anybody says,» cried Helen G., 18, who attended the second consecutive year this 15-block walk which started from the Malecon and Calle Aguirre Avenue, and walked down the avenue October 9 until you reach the intersection of Santa Elena and Lorenzo de Garaicoa.

«Despite the perceived tolerance in some people, there are other that have still discriminate against us. This is a painstaking task, progresses slowly, but steadily and patience is paramount, «said Angie Maire.
