El pasado Viernes 19 de Julio del 2013 a las 15:30, se dio en el Auditorio de la Defensoría del Pueblo de Guayaquil el Foro: REFORMAS A LA LEY DEL REGISTRO CIVIL NO LLEVAN AL MATRIMONIO IGUALITARIO, que tuvo como finalidad, aclarar que las reformas a la Ley del Registro Civil, promueven otras temáticas de inclusión social y no discriminación como: el orden de los apellidos, mención registral del género en lugar de sexo, la eliminación de la descendencia familiar con la finalidad de proteger a hijos de madres solteras del estigma, etc. Este foro fue organizado por la reconocida activista en derechos humanos de las poblaciones LGBTI en Ecuador, Diane Rodríguez y representante de la Asociación Silueta X.

“El 6 de Junio de 2012, la Confederación Ecuatoriana de Comunidades Trans e Intersex (Confetrans) – Asociación Silueta X – Proyecto Transgénero y la Articulación Feminista Construyendo Igualdad – presentaron un Proyecto de Reformas a la Ley de Registro Civil del Ecuador, que sustituye el SEXO por el GÉNERO en la cédula de ciudadanía ecuatoriana”, indicó Diana Maldonado, activista lésbica de la Asociación Silueta X, quien dio apertura inicial al foro.

“La Campaña “MI género en MI cédula”, que acompaña al proyecto de ley, se presentó en la Comisión de Gobiernos Autónomos y Descentralización de la Asamblea Nacional del Ecuador, el 23 de Julio de 2012”, esto como antesala del evento, que fue acompañado por una breve biografía de los panelistas: Diane Rodríguez, Elizabeth Vásquez, Johana Izurrieta y Paola Pabón, actual asambleísta y designada por el presidente de la GAD´s, Asambleísta Richard Calderón, para la intervención en este evento; a pesar que la Asambleísta oficialmente, había expresado participar antes de su designación.

La asesora jurídica de la Ley, Elizabeth Vásquez y fundadora del Proyecto Transgénero dio una amplia sustentación jurídica, legal y constitucionalista sobre las reformas a la ley del registro civil, desglosadas en 7 propuestas y amparadas bajo 3 articulados constitucionales, como lo son: el Art. 11 numeral 2, que reconoce la Identidad de Género, Art. 83 numeral 14, respeto y reconocimiento de la identidad sexual y el Art. 21, libertad a la estética.

La Asambleísta Paola Pabón indicó, que realizar este tipo de actos, es “poner el dedo en la llaga”, pues desvirtúa las confusiones de la ciudadanía en general y algunos medios de comunicación de Ecuador, que con el objeto de hacer amarillismo mediático, confundieron dos tópicos y que el Matrimonio no tiene actualmente bases legales para su debate, como la actual ley del Registro civil: “Lo que hoy estamos haciendo, es diferenciando dos temáticas que son importantes, pero que ninguna tiene que ver con la otra, las reformas a la ley del Registro civil, por ningún lado, promueven el Matrimonio Igualitario, todo momento tiene su tiempo y espacio… y este es el momento de la identidad de género, de todos los ecuatorianos”.

Para Diane Rodríguez, el deseo de casarse y adoptar es impetuoso como el de cualquiera, pero que todos los ecuatorianos deben entender, que hoy el debate es de las reformas a la Ley del Registro Civil: “Quiero casarme y adoptar, pero primero es la Identidad”, fue una de sus frases. Declaró, que esto ya estaba superado en la pasada Asamblea, y que lamentablemente con la confusión mediática por grupos de extrema derecha, han realizado un festín de mentiras y boicot de la ley, que contribuyeron y contribuyen a la desinformación del Ejecutivo, la actual Asamblea y la comunidad ecuatoriana en General… y que hoy, tanto los medios como los activistas LGBTI, deben centrarse en la temática a las Reformas de la ley del Registro Civil, siendo consecuentes con las luchas sociales, declaró conmocionada la representante de Silueta X.

Al evento protocolar, aparte de las personalidades ponentes, estuvieron presentes dignidades como la Srta. Paola Cabezas, asesora y designada para este acto por la Asambleísta Alexandra Ocles, Jenny Poveda Asambleísta Alterna del Asambleísta Henry Cucalón, la Asesora de la Asambleísta Gina Godoy, Ivette Orellana como representante de la presidencia de la “Comisión de Transición hacia la igualdad de Género”, Gexa Paredes Representante del CONSEP, Xavier Noriega representante de la Corporación Nobis, Mónica Carrasco de Abogados & Urgencias, Shannon Liburd como representante del Embajador de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de Norte América, Representantes del Ministerio del Interior y de las Fundaciones Yerbabuena, Jem Ramírez, Diverso Ecuador, Equidad, Ateista, Mujeres Libres pensadoras y Esperanza. El Director Nacional del Registro Civil, La Defensoría del Pueblo de Guayaquil y otros Asambleístas invitados, se excusaron formalmente por su falta al concurrido evento aclaratorio, en unos casos por compromisos previos adquiridos.
