Diane Rodríguez: “Necesito que el estado me reconozca como mujer”

La presidenta de la asociación Silueta X relata cómo constituyó la asociación que ayuda a las personas transexuales y de qué forma la sociedad los limita.

Las personas que conocen a Diane Rodríguez se la quedan mirando durante un largo tiempo como si algo en ella no concordara, pero no determinan qué es. Entonces empieza la inspección en todo su cuerpo, de arriba hacia abajo. Los pies, las manos, la cara, el pelo, las piernas… si consiguen verla de espaldas notarán la carencia de cintura, las nalgas aumentadas a la fuerza mediante cirugía, los hombros anchos y tal vez empiecen a deducirlo; si la escuchan hablar sus sospechas quedarán confirmadas: ella es transexual femenino y ése es el escrutinio que debe soportar por haber nacido en el cuerpo equivocado.

En su oficina guarda cajas amontonadas sin abrir, carteles de la Asociación Silueta X que utilizan para los eventos a los que asisten y detrás de ella, fotos de sus amigas que le ayudaron a constituir la asociación.

Diane Rodríguez tiene la actitud parecida a una rectora de colegio, pero de esas que no le tiene miedo a conversar de cualquier tema porque siempre quiere dejar clara su postura. De hecho, es de las que inspiran al resto a continuar y tiene ese aire de lideresa que hace que la vean con admiración. Ella nació en una época en la que ser transexual era mal visto por la sociedad, una sociedad que se toma su tiempo para pensar en las cosas a las que va a aceptar, y al grupo GLBTI lo está haciendo esperar. Pero mientras esperan, Silueta X sigue creciendo.

La oficina de Diane se encuentra muy cerca de la llamada ‘Zona Rosa’ guayaquileña, donde en una discoteca alternativa llamada Vulcano, tenían espectáculos de desnudos, lo que provocó que aumenten los prejuicios sobre las personas del grupo GLBTI, pero a una cuadra de distancia, desde hace 4 años se encuentra Silueta X para eliminarlos, especialmente aquellos que se dirigen a la comunidad trans.

Actualmente, Silueta X tiene articulación con 17 de los 25 cantones de la provincia  del Guayas y pertenecen alrededor de 300 personas de la provincia, entre gays, lesbianas, bisexuales, transexuales e intersexuales, Silueta X es la única asociación que se enfoca en los transexuales en la provincia. Cada miércoles acuden integrantes para recibir charlas que imparten Diane u otra integrante de la asociación sobre prevención de enfermedades de transmisión sexual, se reparten condones, lubricante y si acude alguien nuevo, le indican los derechos que tienen, que según la Constitución no deben ser discriminados, pero la realidad es otra.

Al ingresar a la asociación se pueden observar los recortes de periódicos en los que aparece Diane u otra integrante de la asociación, como cuando le permitieron cambiar su nombre en la cédula, de Luis Benedicto a Diane Marie, o cuando a Tania Cruz Marcillo,  de 24 años, le permitieron ir al colegio Fuerte Militar Huancavilca utilizando falda y no pantalón. Son muestras de lo que han logrado y recordatorios de lo que les falta por alcanzar.

Afuera de su oficina se encuentran Jessica Cruz, transexual femenino de 21 años, quien hace 4 está vinculada a Silueta X y desde septiembre trabaja en la asociación. También está Tania Cruz, quien se autodenomina la mano derecha de Diane y es la promotora de salud de Silueta X. Junto a ellas se encuentran volantes, papeles, las cajas de condones y lubricantes que el Ministerio de Salud le proporciona, los cuales se encargan de repartir en las calles aledañas al hotel Oro Verde, lugar al que ellas denominan ‘la pista’ donde la mayoría de sus compañeras realizan trabajo sexual.

El rostro de Diane, además de esconder al hombre que era, expresa la sencillez de la amabilidad y la dureza de la  lucha. Casi no se maquilla, y se siente más cómoda vistiendo un jean y zapatos bajos, lo contrario al prototipo de mujer que se supone debería de ser: bien peinada, maquillada y con tacos, pero ella no desea seguir ese estereotipo. Ella no quiere obedecer lo que la sociedad  le pide que haga, más bien Diane le exige a la sociedad que se reivindique de todas las limitaciones que tienen hacia la comunidad trans, motivo por el cual ha iniciado una lucha que continúa día a día. La última campaña en la que participa se llama “A una letra de ejercer ciudadanía” y lo que buscan es que en lugar de tener la palabra sexo en la cédula, se coloque el género, y esté escrita la F de femenino y no la caducada M del masculino que actualmente no representa.

¿Ustedes quieren que la sociedad la reconozca como trans o como mujeres?

Dentro de los grupos trans a nivel internacional hay varios tipos de ideología.  El primero es el tipo de trans que se concibe como mujer, que quiere ser tratada como mujer y adopta ese rol matriarcal, es decir que quiere ser: mamá, esclava doméstica, reproductora de seres humanos y esclava sexual de un hombre. También hay otro tipo de trans, como yo, que están en construcción, que necesito que me reconozcan como trans, que me traten como mujer porque estoy en una indagación todavía, y en esta disyuntiva binaria donde solo hay masculino y femenino, tengo que acercarme a lo más femenino que es lo que yo me siento.

En el tema de la ciencia necesito que me reconozcan como trans y no como mujer. Ellos dicen que si yo me siento mujer y me creo mujer tienen que coincidir mis tetas con una vagina y no mis tetas con un pene. Yo no quiero operarme. Hay muchas transexuales que quieren que las operen, yo no comparto eso.

Sí, porque así es mucho más sencillo acceder a los derechos sociales que tiene mi novio y que yo, como su pareja, tengo derecho. Yo no quiero acceder a la unión de hecho porque eso es para homosexuales y yo no soy ninguna homosexual y mi novio no se ve homosexual, él es un hombre heterosexual, es como negar los postulados de identidad de género. Yo quiero que el estado me reconozca como mujer para casarme legalmente y, cuando yo figure dentro de sus roles de pago, recibir decimotercero. Y si estoy enferma no acudir a nuestro sistema de salud pública sino a algo más digno.

 

Quién sabe si después de otras generaciones se pueda dar un tercer género, pero en la actualidad está el mundo binario: malo –bueno, blanco-negro, hombre-mujer, masculino-femenino, no hay por donde todavía.

Mediante la campaña “A una letra de ejercer ciudadanía” Diane inicia esta lucha particular que, a su criterio les impide acceder al resto de derechos. Especialmente como el trabajo, razón por la que se suele encasillar a las personas transexuales con el trabajo sexual, pero esto es porque se les niega otras posibilidades. Algo similar le pasó a María Sol Dumani, amiga de años de Diane. Ambas se conocieron cuando todavía no habían empezado a feminizarse, mientras trabajaban en Produbanco. Cuando supieron que eran transexuales femeninas continuaron su amistad y ahora María Sol es la Vicepresidenta de la asociación Silueta X. Ella dice que Diane antes era dócil y ahora tiene un espíritu inclaudicable, lo que supo contagiar a María Sol cuando en el INEC, su actual lugar de trabajo, empezó a tener problemas con su jefe porque físicamente empezaba a verse más femenina. Aprendió de Diane que cuando se agotan los recursos, vamos a la guerra. Y ya tiene 5 años trabajando en la misma entidad.

Otra persona que aprendió, gracias al ejemplo y las charlas de Diane de no dejarse pisotear, es Tania Cruz Marcillo, transexual femenino de 24 años que en el 2012 decidió terminar el colegio en el Fuerte Militar Huancavilca. A Tania le dijeron que solamente podía estudiar si se vestía como hombre, porque en su cédula dice masculino. Junto a Silueta X expuso su caso en la Defensoría del Pueblo y fue gracias a una llamada de Diane que se enteró que había ganado el caso.

Pero antes de que Diane se convierta en la fuerza que necesita la comunidad trans para no decaer, ella también bajaba la cabeza y se dejaba intimidar por una mayoría que no la reconoce como su igual.

¿Cuál es el enfoque de Silueta X?

Nuestro discurso va desde la identidad de género. Lo cisgénero son personas que han adoptado el rol de género de la sociedad impuesta y las personas transgénero son quienes hemos transgredido el género impuesto por la sociedad. Entonces en base del postulado de la identidad de género yo me concibo como una persona femenina y en ése sentido  las personas que se sienten atraídos hacia mí en general son los hombres heterosexuales, mi caso  cuando conocí a mi novio, él pensó que yo era mujer biológica pero no, se enteró que yo era una trans.

Ahí surge la disonancia de ese discurso político de la sociedad donde supuestamente no es posible de que un hombre heterosexual se enamore de una trans si la trans se ve femenina. Continuamos nuestra relación y luego de varios años de sensibilización él entiende ahora, se acepta como hombre heterosexual y me acepta a mí como trans.

Eso era lo que no encontrábamos en las diferentes fundaciones, siempre se ha limitado el discurso y sobre todo cuando uno se trataba de vincular a estas fundaciones, se encontraba con cosas impares. Tú tratas de vincularte a algún grupo para encontrar paridad en el discurso, pero el problema era que no me sentía parte de ellos. Ellos piensan como hombres, son hombres solo que son homosexuales. Nosotras pensamos como mujeres, nacimos como hombres pero pensamos y actuamos como mujeres. Entonces no había ninguna concordancia porque él no quería cambiar sus genitales, no quería operarse, no era igual.  Y esa es la situación confusa que tiene  la sociedad en la actualidad, obviamente por falta de información.

Empecé a investigar en internet porqué no me sentía gay hasta que escuché la palabra travesti, luego escuché que los travesti se prostituían, y así empecé a entender que yo no era gay, sino trans.

Luego con mis compañeras empezamos a crear una organización que se llamaba Comunidad Futuro. La organización nunca pudo estructurarse formalmente. Yo seguía estudiando, llegué hasta tercer año de ingeniería comercial. Como me hormonaba cada vez me veía más femenino, incluso en la última empresa en la que trabajé, que fue en el hotel Oro Verde, todos los extranjeros que llegaban me decía ‘Miss’, ‘señorita’ a pesar de que andaba con corbata, ellos pensaban que yo era mujer. Eso les fastidió a los ejecutivos del hotel por lo que a mí y a otra compañera trans nos botaron ese día. Ya teníamos como 2 años haber creado Silueta X como organización de hecho. Lo que queríamos hace era una organización diferente, donde el discurso trans se escuche, donde seamos visibilizadas.

 En ese tiempo teníamos un contacto con el MIES y cuando nos botaron pusimos la primera queja legal en la defensoría del pueblo, en el 2008. Ahí ya se detonó todo por mi parte, por parte de María Sol, de Mía. Ellas y yo dijimos basta.

 ¿Eso fue cuando las despidieron del hotel Oro Verde?

Sí, pero solo dos trabajábamos en el hotel Oro Verde, Mía y yo.

En ese tiempo sí era travesti, llevaba una doble vida: me ponía mis extensiones para hacer  las actividades con Silueta X, y cuando iba a trabajar iba con mi cabello peinado para atrás como un chico. Los ejecutivos del hotel me dijeron, ¿tú vas a demandar al hotel? y lo hice. Les fastidié la vida durante un año, no gané nada pero los jodí. A base de eso ya me hice conocida y ya no percibí el mundo como antes, ya no estaba yo para ir a una empresa, agachar la cabeza y ocultarme debajo de vestiduras que no me correspondían.

Yo cuando iba vestida de hombre a ese trabajo sí me sentía disfrazada porque hacía un rol de género que no me correspondía, es más, hacer demasiado rol del género femenino tampoco me parece adecuado porque no me siento tan femenina, no me gusta, no uso tacos y ando siempre en jean. No me gustan estos estereotipos ni para lo uno ni para lo otro. Porque el hecho de que yo acepte por completo el rol de género femenino es como una especie de matriarcado. Si nosotros cuestionamos el patriarcado, porqué el matriarcado no puede ser cuestionado. Habría que reinventarse y en esa reinvención yo estoy y no quiero ni ser de lo uno ni de lo otro. En ese sentido yo si soy abierta hasta a que me cuestionen. Eso fue en el 2008. De ahí yo obligada tuve que crear proyectos sociales, no me gusta hacerlo pero de algo tengo que vivir. A mí me gusta la psicología, la pintura. Todavía estoy atrapada, antes era por la discriminación ahora es por la lucha, si no lucho no puedo hacer nada.

En el 2010 presenté un proyecto social al Banco Mundial, les gustó y ganamos un proyecto que se llamó Innovación, emprendimiento y sustentabilidad, incluso nos dieron cerca de $40.000 para constituir nuestra organización legalmente. Alquilamos estas oficinas, hicimos el proyecto en la prov. del Guayas. De los 25 cantones tenemos articulación con 17 y estamos donde estamos.

Pero a pesar de que la asociación tiene el apoyo de quienes la conforman y que poco a poco se están haciendo notar y saliendo del escondite en el que se había metido este grupo social, hay ciertas cosas que no las pueden cubrir totalmente.

La mayoría de los transexuales sufren violencia intrafamiliar cuando revelan a su familia que se identifican con el sexo opuesto, algunos recurren al trabajo sexual como medio de subsistencia cuando los botan de su casa. Silueta X trata de ayudarlos repartiendo condones, lubricante y acompañándolos a realizarse exámenes médicos en los centros de salud. Pero si recibieran menos rechazo por parte de la sociedad, tendrían más opciones de trabajar, lo que los volvería independientes y tal vez ayudaría a que disminuya la violencia en sus casas.

¿Cómo tratan los casos de violencia intrafamiliar?

No tenemos aquí un sistema especifico, lo que hacemos es que si viene  una persona que ha sido sujeta a este tipo de actos, si tiene una situación emocional profunda la derivamos a uno de los psicólogos. Hemos hecho contacto con algunos y dan asesoría gratuita, como el psicólogo Juan Alfredo Robles o a veces lo enviamos al Centro de Docencia e Investigación que también tienen psicólogos ahí.

Si ha tenido que ver con violación o con algún daño físico lo derivamos a la fiscalía o  la comisaría de la mujer. Nosotros tenemos un formato de quejas, sacamos la copia y simplemente la persona se acerca, deja el documento, le sellan y ya está puesta la queja. Hacemos que el proceso se le haga mucho más fácil

¿Qué es exactamente lo que pueden solicitar aquí?

Ayuda psicológica, ayuda legal, los miércoles  de 18:00 a 20:00 se dan talleres de sexualidad de identidad de género, damos charlas a la Policía Nacional, vamos a la penitenciaría, a los colegios, a los centros de salud. Han venidos mujeres, hombres no necesariamente trans, nosotros los llevamos al centro de salud a que se hagan pruebas.

De las personas que reciben mensualmente, ¿cuántas son de violencia intrafamiliar?

De violencia intrafamiliar 2 o 3 personas al mes. Nosotros le decimos que no solo tiene que dejar la queja, sino darle seguimiento, o sea llamar, acercarse y como que la gente se desmotiva y no quiere hacerlo tal vez porque le va a quitar tiempo. La única queja que tenemos es del año 2010 que se concretó,

¿En Silueta X se brinda asesoría a toda la comunidad GLTBI o solamente a la comunidad trans?

A todos, pero hacemos énfasis en el trabajo de poblaciones trans. Pero si tengo que escoger entre una población y otra para trabajar, escojo la transexual porque son las más discriminadas de la sociedad, incluso del grupo GLBTI, las menos valoradas.

¿Ustedes dan  la ayuda a la persona que ha sido violentada  o también a su familia?

El caso que se resolvió, de la compañera que había sido violentada tuvimos contacto con el marido y se le dio terapia psicológica. Se da ayuda a la familia si hay apertura por parte de la persona.

¿Hay algún otro centro especializado en la comunidad trans en Guayaquil?

No, en Quito esta la organización del Proyecto Transgénero.

Para Diane, el estudiar psicología le ha abierto muchas puertas al entendimiento en temas que antes desconocía. Y superar todos los obstáculos le ayudó a formar el carácter que tiene ahora. Ella afirma que  gracias a su madre ahora es quien es y que a pesar de haber vivido momentos duros, le han ayudado para no decaer ante la lucha. Una batalla que todo transexual debe empezar en su casa, cuando le comunica a sus padres que está en el cuerpo equivocado.

¿Cómo reaccionó su familia cuando empezó a manifestar su feminidad y decidió que sería su forma de vida desde entonces?

Me botaron de la casa, yo hice trabajo sexual durante un mes y tuve que sobrevivir en la calle. Luego me reincorporaron al hogar y me llevaron a 3 religiones, me obligaron. Si hubieran sabido de las clínicas de deshomosexualización, también me hubieran llevado. Pero obviamente por la desesperación de ellos. Muchos padres lo hacen desesperados porque quieren encajarnos en la sociedad binaria y por la desesperación llegan estos evangélicos, llegan estos católicos y dicen ‘si, acá los van a ayudar’, los abandonan, las mujeres son violadas, los gays electrocutados.

¿Qué edad tenía cundo se lo comunicó a sus padres?

Tenía 14 o 15.

¿A esa edad lo botaron?

Sí, luego mi mami me vio por el Unicentro, al mes. Habló con los profesores y tuve que recibir clases externas para nivelarme, su finalidad era dejarme pero no lo consiguió. En el día vivía en la casa de un amigo que ya falleció que se llamaba Luis Vélez, lo conocí también en el Unicentro. Era el típico gay que pensaba que ser trans era lo peor, que pensaba que luego de la homosexualidad, viene la transexualidad. En ese tiempo él tenía 22 años. Si mis padres se enteraban hubieran pensado que  él tenía influencia en mí.

¿Y por qué no quiso comunicárselo a sus padres?

Por el temor de la represión, mi madre que es de Manabí de paso, creyente, un poquito más del Opus Dei, se pega latigazos en la espalda. De paso mis nombres anteriores eran Luis Benedicto, como para que tenga una idea de qué tan católica es, porque la palabra Benedicto significa bendición o algo así. Es más, me iban a poner Benigno Benedicto.

Ahora mi mami me ama, ya sabe que conmigo no puede hacer nada.

Con el tiempo he percibido que ella perdió un hijo pero ha ganado una hija, pero me trata como debe de tratarme, como mujer, me quiere y me respeta.

¿Y su papá?

Papá no tengo ya, es más con mi padrastro. Ese hombre es como si fuera un cuadro en la casa. Es mi papá de crianza pero no le tengo ningún afecto.

Diane no es solamente la presidenta de Silueta X, ella con su actitud y su cuerpo protesta día a día a favor del grupo GLBTI, especialmente de las personas trans, porque la sociedad todavía no les da cabida por completo. “Y me siento bien de haber nacido acá porque tengo, por lo menos la posibilidad de luchar”, asegura.
