GLBTI quieren género en la cédula

Los movimientos que representan a la comunidad GLBTI (Gays, Lesbianas, Bisexuales, Transexuales e Intersexo) volvieron a la Asamblea para insistir en las reformas a la Ley de Registro Civil en los artículos que asignan el sexo de las personas en la cédula.

Los colectivos buscan que el género sea reconocido en el documento de identidad y que se retire toda información que pudiera generar discriminación.

Diane Rodríguez, de la agrupación Silueta X, opinó que la cédula solo debería incluir el lugar de nacimiento, número de identidad, huellas dactilares, nombres y apellidos.

“No sé por qué el Estado intenta invadir nuestra intimidad, incluso la sexual, reconocida en la Constitución”, dijo.

El pedido fue apoyado por la asambleísta Paola Pabón (AP), que es de la Comisión de Gobiernos Autónomos, que conoce el proyecto reformatorio a la Ley de Registro Civil.

Ella reconoció que el tema genera posturas divididas en la bancada, pero que como un grupo de oficialistas lo apoya, se jugarán por los cambios, dijo.

Pabón acogió el criterio de eliminar el nivel de instrucción en la cédula para que así todos estén en condiciones de igualdad, ya que consideró que esta información podría, por ejemplo, dificultar un contrato de arrendamiento.

La legisladora acotó que incluir la foto, por ejemplo, también podría complicar ciertos trámites bancarios porque “(en los bancos) no pueden comprobar si la persona que hace la transacción es la misma que presenta el documento”.

Ratificó que se mantendrán los datos sobre el sexo.
