“Me gustaría ser asambleísta”.

Iván Puga se define como gay. Estudia ingeniería química y al culminar la universidad piensa viajar al exterior para realizar una maestría. Pero su mayor anhelo es ser asambleísta para defender los derechos de la comunidad de Gays, lesbianas, bisexuales, trans e intersexual (Glbti).
“El ser homosexual no impide a nadie superarse y ser feliz, esto es lo que algunos no entienden”, manifestó.
Reveló que sus metas son como las de cualquier persona:tener una familia, pareja e hijos.
Vive en Pascuales, parroquia ubicada en el norte de Guayaquil, práctica el activismo en una fundación Glbti y participa de foros y charlas que imparte al personal de diferentes empresas e instituciones. Habla sobre temas de la discriminación y orientación sexual. Creó una radio on line (www.rdjunior.listen.myradio.com) para comunicarse con sus amigos de esta comunidad.
“Hay que aprender a vivir en diferencias, el ser diferente no quiere decir que seamos anormales o que tengamos menos capacidades, todos somos iguales”, explicó.
Iván considera que en la diferencia se construye la pluralidad. “Con cero tolerancia no podemos seguir adelante. Hay que tener más aceptación para las ideas y pensamientos diversos”.
Él se ha ganado el respeto  de sus compañeros de clases (heterosexuales), con quienes comparte distintos criterios. “No hay discriminación”, sostiene.
En sus ratos libres practica básquet, asiste a un curso de inglés y escucha música de la década del 80. “Soy fanático de la astronomía, en mi casa tengo un telescopio porque me gusta ver el firmamento”, indicó.
El año pasado confesó a sus padres su verdadera orientación sexual. “Necesitaba hacerlo, no podía seguir fingiendo. Ellos lloraron, pero luego decidieron apoyarme. Me pidieron que siguiera estudiando y es lo que hago”, comentó seguro.
“No todos los gays son afeminados, tengo amigos que son muy masculinos”, afirmó.
Iván cree que se debe reformar la Constitución para incluirse un capítulo completo sobre la comunidad Glbti. Según él, los asambleístas no solo están llamados para hacer las leyes, sino a ser fiscalizadores, por lo tanto su trabajo estará enfocado en que la Carta Magna “aterrice” en la comunidad Glbti.
