Este Viernes 13 de Diciembre del 2013, las poblaciones GLBTI del Ecuador vivieron un momento histórico en la reivindicación de los derechos humanos, al reunirse por primera vez con un primer mandatario, en esta ocasión con el Presidente Rafael Correa.

En la historia Republicana de este país no ha habido tal situación y que por tanto se consagra este dia como memorial. Esta reunión se concreta gracias al puente colectivo que hizo la presidenta de la Asociación Silueta X, Diane Rodriguez, quien el Presidente Rafael Correa ya habia invitado en mayo del 2013 a la activista a un cambio de Guardia Presidencial,- un acto de eleveda importancia gubernamental – como muestra de respeto al proceso de defensora que ella lleva. Se conoce de forma oficial que Diane Rodríguez muestra acercamento al gobierno de Rafael Correa en algunos temas, y critica constructivamente otros.

Con este antecedente, la reunión estaba prevista solo con Diane Rodríguez, sin embargo la activista articuló rapidamente la participación de los representates, para que el discurso en relación a las solicitudes presentadas sean soportados, unificados y efectivos.

El objetivo de la reunión tuvo en primera instancia dar a conocer las realidades de las poblaciones de la diversidad sexual, y asegurar los derechos fundamentales consagrados en la Constitución de la República del Ecuador, en los terminos de orientación sexual e identidad de género, artículo 11 numeral 2 de este cuerpo legal.

Al momento el Ecuador entero se encuentra a la espectativa de los resultados de la reunión y sobre todo a que compromisos se llego los representantes TILGB con el primer mandatario.
