Gobierno Nacional defenderá los derechos de los GLBTI.

Atacames (Esmeraldas).- El Presidente de la República, Rafael Correa, aseguró que no permitirá la discriminación a los Grupos GLBTI (Gays, lesbianas, bisexuales, transexuales e intersexuales), porque la Constitución garantiza la igualdad de los derechos y sanciona la discriminación por preferencias sexuales.
Durante en Enlace Ciudadano 352, difundido desde Atacames, Esmeraldas, el Mandatario informó que por primera vez en la historia un Presidente de la República se reunió con representantes de los GLBTI.

“Estos grupos tienen derechos formalizados en la Ley y la Constitución, pero en la práctica todavía enfrentan graves problemas de discriminación a nivel laboral, educacional y de salud y no permitiremos esa clase de discriminaciones”, afirmó el Jefe de Estado.

El Primer Mandatario dijo que la reunión de los últimos días con un grupo GLBTI fue para buscar estrategias que concienticen a la sociedad en el respeto a estos grupos y la promoción mediática de sus derechos.

En su informe de labores, el gobernante reiteró que los GLBTI, en especial los transexuales, son muy susceptibles a recibir agresiones y detalló que, hay 15 asesinatos a miembros GLBTI no resueltos.

Por ello, anunció el compromiso de conformar una comisión gubernamental para dar seguimiento a esos casos de asesinatos y que no queden en la impunidad, así como la promoción mediática de sus derechos. “Hay veces que la gente no entiende que no debe hacer discriminación, más aún cuando hay funcionarios públicos, profesores que no entienden esto y aún hay discrimen”.

“No se puede expulsar a nadie de un colegio por pertenecer a los GLBTI y eso está pasando” dijo el Presidente Correa y añadió que el Gobierno formará a los servidores públicos que muchas veces no tienen capacitación para atender adecuadamente a estos grupos y establecer procedimientos en instituciones públicas”, comentó el Mandatario.

Tras reiterar su oposición al matrimonio igualitario, porque la Constitución define al matrimonio como la unión entre un hombre y una mujer, el Mandatario dijo que hay grupos GLBTI que buscan el matrimonio igualitario cuando hay cosas más urgentes como, por ejemplo, reducir las agresiones a los GLBTI.

“Probablemente para los GLBTI el matrimonio igualitario sea un emblema, pero ya con la unión de hecho, reconocida en la Constitución, tienen todos los derechos que les pudiera dar un matrimonio”, aseguró el Presidente Correa al agregar que lo importante para el Estado es esa unión entre hombre y mujer.

Según el Mandatario la unión de hecho existe en la Constitución y si una pareja de gays registra su unión de hecho y uno de ellos muere, la pareja puede heredar; ese es uno de los tantos derechos que da la formalización notarizada de la unión de hecho, además la persona que trabaja puede, por ejemplo, afiliar a la seguridad social a su compañero o compañera, pero vemos que las instituciones públicas en el país no están preparadas para esto, tal como le ocurrió a una pareja de gays cuando funcionarios del IESS no registraron la afiliación al seguro social de uno de ellos, lo cual es inconstitucional.

Finalmente, el Presidente Correa reiteró su compromiso de trabajar por mejorar la capacitación de los servidores y sobre todo de procedimientos públicos a fin de atender a los grupos GLBTI. SAU. El Ciudadano.
