Histórico encuentro entre presidente de Ecuador y gays.

Ecuador.- Activistas LGBT (Lésbico, Gay, Bisexual, Trans) de Ecuador se reunieron con el presidente de su país, Rafael Correa, el viernes pasado en la ciudad de Guayaquil, calificando este gesto de «histórico».

Las organizaciones LGBT, Asociación Silueta X y el Observatorio GLBTI, informó por medio de un comunicado de su reunión con el mandatario de Ecuador, en un momento importante para la reivindicación de los derechos de la comunidad gay.

Correa destacó que la reunión fue muy importante para su gobierno y que no permitirá la discriminación contra la Comunidad LGBT de su país, pues la Constitución de Ecuador prohíbe la discriminación por razón de orientación sexual.

El presidente y los activistas buscaron estrategias para difundir el respeto a la diversidad sexual entre la sociedad ecuatoriana, así como la difusión de los derechos de la comunidad LGBT en los medios de comunicación.

«Estos grupos tienen derechos, ya esos derechos están formalizados en la ley y en la Constitución, pero en la práctica todavía enfrentan graves problemas de discriminación a nivel laboral, educacional, de salud, muchas veces no son atendidos, y no permitiremos esa clase de discriminación», puntualizó Rafael Correa.

El jefe de estado advirtió de la injusticia que viven muchos miembros de la Comunidad LGBT, que son discriminados en sus escuelas o trabajos, casos que han llegado hasta los lamentables asesinatos de odio por homofobia.

No obstante su apertura, Rafael Correa negó estar de acuerdo en el Matrimonio Igualitario, pues no cree que esa figura política les de algún derecho adicional.
