Jaime Nebot, por carta, aclara puntos a Defensor del Pueblo y a comunidad GLBTI.
El alcalde de Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot, le respondió al defensor del Pueblo, Ramiro Rivadeneira Silva, quien se pronunció tras la queja que presentaron representantes de la comunidad GLBTI (gays, lesbianas, bisexuales, transexuales e intersexo), por las supuestas «declaraciones homofóbicas» que realizó al referirse a los integrantes de una manifestación.
La comunidad ha solicitado al alcalde que se disculpe por sus dichos. Este tema nació en el marco de una parodia que realizó un colectivo denominado «Guayaquil sin Garrote» el pasado 4 de diciembre en la Plaza de la Administración, que terminó en una gresca con metropolitanos.
Días después Nebot señaló que entre quienes participaron en la parodia había gente que labora en la Prefectura del Guayas. «Todos estos que se disfrazaron de hombres salieron posiblemente de algún clóset de la Prefectura, son empleados de la Prefectura», afirmó Nebot.
Rivadeneira considera que la comunidad ha sido afectada por las expresiones de Jaime Nebot, «quien se ha referido de forma peyorativa a los homosexuales, utilizando su orientación sexual como insulto y descalificación, contra manifestantes reprimidos por la policía metropolitana porteña».
Pero este martes Nebot le aclaró a Rivadeneria sus declaraciones. «Yo manifesté que ciertos empleados de la Prefectura -y se ha aceptado que lo son- que se disfrazaron de Jaime Nebot, se habían disfrazado de hombre. Cuál es la ofensa o la mentira; si se disfrazan de mí, se disfrazan de hombre», indicó.
«Indiqué también que lo habrían hecho en algún clóset (no en el clóset) de la Prefectura, pues presumo que no lo hicieron en el auditorio, ni en ningún espacio público», agregó.
En un comunicado firmado por las organizaciones Asociación Silueta X, Observatorio GLBTI, Fundación Equidad y Diverso Ecuador, se señala que el Municipio no ha autorizado por seis años consecutivos la realización de la denominada Marcha del Orgullo Gay. Ante esto, Nebot señaló que estos desfiles se han realizado con normalidad durante su administración, durante varios años.
El alcalde aseguró que siempre ha respetado a los GLBTI, al tiempo de detallar las funciones que esta comunidad realiza en el Cabildo. «Esta Municipalidad (…) cuenta con la intervención del colectivo GLBTI -Fundación «Diverso Ecuador»- en la Asamblea Cantonal de Participación Ciudadana, el mismo que ha actuado y votado permanentemente en el marco de libertad y respeto», aseguró Nebot.
El alcalde también aclara en la carta, entre otros aspectos, que jamás ha discriminado a ninguna persona «por razones de ideología, raza, religión o condición de género».
