«Marcha de las putas» denuncia violencia en Quito.

Al ritmo de tambores y con consignas en favor de la libertad de las mujeres y en contra de la violencia, unas 300 personas se congregaron esta tarde en el parque El Ejido (norte de Quito) al grito de “somos putas”.

Por tercer año consecutivo, colectivos feministas de artistas y de defensa de los derechos humanos se unieron para alzar su voz y llamar la atención de la sociedad al reivindicar la palabra “puta” como protesta contra el trato a las mujeres y la violencia de género.

“Esta es una manifestación en contra de la violencia como un sistema donde hay instituciones y personas que violentan a otras”, afirmó Ana Almeida, coordinadora de la ‘Marcha de las Putas Ecuador’.

La iniciativa, que se realiza en otras ciudades de Latinoamérica, llegó hasta la plaza Foch, en donde se realiza el festival ‘Emputado 2014’, en el que se leerá el manifiesto de las ‘putas’, que contempla consignas contra la homofobia, la violencia, el respeto a las diversas opciones sexuales y decidir sobre el cuerpo.

Almeida reconoció la tipificación del feminicidio en el Código Penal vigente, pero recordó que 6 de cada 10 mujeres en el país sufren algún tipo de violencia, según datos del Inec.

«March of Whores» denounces violence in Quito.

To the beat of drums and slogans in favor of freedom of women and against violence , about 300 people gathered this afternoon in the park El Ejido ( north of Quito) shouting » we are whores .»

For the third year , feminist collective of artists and human rights came together to raise their voices and call the attention of the society to reclaim the word «slut » as a protest against the treatment of women and gender violence .

» This is a manifestation against violence as a system with institutions and individuals who violate others ,» said Ana Almeida , coordinator of the » March of Whores Ecuador ‘ .

The initiative , which is done in other Latin American cities , reached Foch Square , where the ‘ emputado 2014 ‘ festival, in which the manifesto of the ‘ whores ‘ is read , which includes slogans against homophobia is performed, the violence , respect for diverse sexual body and decide on the options.

Almeida acknowledged the criminality of femicide in the current Penal Code , but remembered that 6 out of 10 women in the country suffer from some form of violence , according to the INEC .
