En la ciudad se realizará una marcha y una carrera de tacones.

En Cuenca los colectivos Silueta X, Verde Equilibrante, Cuenca Inclusiva y otros han preparado una agenda con eventos culturales para conmemorar el Día del Orgullo Gay.

En Cuenca, se usarán nuevamente los zapatos de tacones. En esta ciudad se alista la segunda edición de la carrera por el Día del Orgullo Gay, uno de los eventos que se realizará con el fin de promover los derechos de este grupo de la población.

En la capital azuaya, durante ocho días se llevará a cabo la denominada “Semana cultural Cuenca, vida y diversidad”. Su propósito es fomentar la sensibilización y la visualización de los grupos GLBTI que hay en la ciudad.

Las actividades arrancarán desde el martes que viene. Andrés Aucapiña, miembro del colectivo Silueta X, explicó que desde el 17 al 19 de junio se proyectarán varias películas en el Salón de la Ciudad.

“La idea es que la gente comparta este tipo de espacios con los miembros de la comunidad GLBTI -dijo Aucapiña-. Queremos que las personas reconozcan que ellos existen y que tienen derechos al igual que todos los demás”.

Pero este apenas será el inicio, pues la agenda cultural incluye la elección de la Miss Verano GLBTI 2014, que se cumplirá el 21 de junio.

Dos días después, el 23, harán una marcha con faroles en honor de sus compañeros caídos. “Queremos honrar a todos los compañeros que han luchado por la comunidad GLBTI pero que han fallecido debido a ataques homofóbicos y otros tipos de agresión -dijo Aucapiña-. Es una manera de recordar de que la discriminación sí mata”.

Esta marcha se cumplirá a las 18:00 y tendrá como punto de inicio el parque Abdón Calderón. Luego avanzará hasta el sector del Puente Roto, sitio en el que se dará un espacio de reflexión sobre el tema.

Las actividades continuarán el 24 y el 25 de junio con el “Foro de la diversidad intercultural”. El día 26, el parque Abdón Calderón será el espacio para una exposición fotográfica relacionada con este tema.

La agenda terminará el 28 de junio, fecha en la que se celebra internacionalmente el Día del Orgullo Gay.

Ese día se llevará a cabo la segunda edición de la carrera de tacones. En el evento participarán las reinas de belleza GLBTI, activistas y otros miembros de la población cuencana.

El año pasado, una bandera arcoíris fue utilizada para dar la señal de partida en la primera edición de la carera. Entre las participantes se destacaron Angie Queen, reina del Drag Queen de Cuenca, y Cristina Rodríguez, reina GLBTI de Loja.

También participaron las exconcejalas María José Machado, María Cecilia Alvarado y la edil reelecta Monserrath Tello.

En esa ocasión, el vento no solo se celebró en el marco del Día del Orgullo Gay, sino también como parte del apoyo a la creación de una ordenanza para garantizar los derechos de este grupo.

Según Aucapiña, organizar un evento de este tipo no es sencillo. En la ciudad se registran aún agresiones y actos de discriminación a los GLBTI; sin embargo, espera que este año haya mayor aceptación ciudadana. (MAN)

Aquí aún es difícil mostrarse al público

Desde 1997, fecha en la que se eligió a la primera reina GLBTI, ha habido cierto temor para organizar eventos públicos como marchas, reinados… ¿Se han superado esos miedos?

Es complicado. Cuenca está avanzando, sobre todo en cuestión de derechos, pero no solo de los grupos GLBTI, sino también de otros grupos sociales históricamente olvidados, como la población afro y mujeres, entre otros. Sin embargo, aún estos esfuerzos nos son suficientes. No queremos que, por ser GLBTI, se nos den más derechos que otros ciudadanos, simplemente buscamos que, a través de este tipo de eventos, la gente entienda que nosotros también existimos y que somos parte de la población.

¿Hacen falta más políticas públicas para garantizar los derechos GLBTI?

Sí, sin duda alguna. Hay gente que cree que la Constitución ya nos garantiza el cumplimiento de nuestros derechos. Sin embargo, es necesario aterrizar en una norma local. Esa ha sido nuestra lucha, de personas heterosexuales, de todos. Esperamos que el nuevo Concejo Cantonal asuma con responsabilidad el segundo debate de la ordenanza. La propuesta ya fue trabajada, socializada. Ahora todo queda en manos de ellos. La gente debe saber que en Cuenca aún hay resistencia, no hay aceptación completamente. Pese a todo ello, nosotros seguimos en la lucha, en la sensibilización y la defensa del tema.
