“El Día del Orgullo Gay excluye, la diversidad no”.

En redes sociales se desató esta semana una discusión. Algunos discutían sobre la pertinencia del nombre “Orgullo Gay” para recordar a las personas que han luchado por sus derechos. Mientras unos decían que debía defenderse la calificación “Día de la Diversidad” otros defendían el “Día del Orgullo Gay”.

Para Diane Rodríguez, directora del colectivo Silueta X, la razón por la cual entró en debate esta denominación fue porque los miembros de los colectivos desean sentirse incluidos durante las movilizaciones que exigen la inclusión de sus derechos.

“De la misma manera que las personas con discapacidad exigen que no se les llame discapacitados o las personas afroecuatorianas exigen que no les llamen morenos, nosotros queremos que ese día sea reconocido como un día de diversidad”.

Rodríguez es estudiante de psicología, presidenta de la asociación Silueta X y también es una trans femenina. Desde su punto de vista, en las movilizaciones que se han realizado, no solo han participado lesbianas y homosexuales, sino también prostitutas, travestis, transexuales… “Hay organizaciones que queremos reivindicar el nombre de la diversidad. El Día del Orgullo Gay nos excluye, mientras que el Día de la Diversidad habla de todos los colectivos”.
