Uniones de hecho serán reconocidas por el Registro Civil ecuatoriano.

La unión de hecho será reconocida por el Registro Civil como un dato complementario del estado civil de los ecuatorianos en la cédula a partir del 15 de septiembre próximo.

Esto, luego de que la Dirección General del Registro Civil, Identificación y Cedulación emitiera la Resolución 0174, que acogió el cambio. El documento, que tiene seis considerandos y seis artículos, fue suscrito el viernes por Jorge Troya, director de la institución.

Esta decisión fue tomada con beneplácito por la comunidad GLBTI, cuyos representantes sostuvieron un almuerzo con el presidente Rafael Correa, el lunes pasado, en el que le pidieron que se respetaran sus garantías constitucionales. El no registro de las uniones de hecho era uno de los derechos no reconocidos, dijeron a Correa.

“Es un gran paso”, declaró Diane Rodríguez, presidenta de la Asociación Silueta X. La decisión “nos hace sentir, ahora sí, ciudadanas y ciudadanos, podemos conformar nuestras uniones y legalizarlas”.

Para el colectivo Matrimonio Civil Igualitario, la resolución “es un enorme avance”, aunque el grupo continuará luchando por las “demás deudas de la Revolución Ciudadana con las poblaciones GLBTI”, entre ellas, acceder al matrimonio civil igualitario.

La reciente resolución deroga la Nº 0277, del 1 de septiembre del 2010, que prohibía el ingreso de la unión de hecho como estado civil al archivo magnético de la entidad y, en consecuencia, a la cédula de ciudadanía.
