Los GLBTI insisten en una cédula con ‘género’.

Grupos GLBTI y activistas insistieron en que la cédula de identidad debe señalar el ‘género’ de la persona y no su ‘sexo’, como es en la actualidad.

El pasado miércoles expusieron su “demanda” ante dos instancias de la Asamblea con el objetivo, según explicaron, de que el proyecto de reforma a la Ley de Registro Civil recoja nuevamente su pedido.

Integrantes de colectivos como Alfil, Silueta X, Red Trans, Yerbabuena, entre otros, reiteraron al Grupo Parlamentario por los Derechos de las Mujeres y a la Comisión de Gobiernos Autónomos que era necesario reemplazar el dato del ‘sexo’ por ‘género’ en la cédula.

Ellos intervinieron como parte del proyecto Transgénero, informó su directora Ana Almeida, quien refirió que el pedido inicial en la Asamblea fue planteado en el 2012.

Relató que el informe para primer debate sí contempló esta sustitución, pero no el de segundo. Este aún está en elaboración en la mesa legislativa.

Paola Pabón (AP), integrante del grupo y de la comisión, apoyó la propuesta porque reconoce la identidad de género, que consta en la Constitución.

En mayo del 2013 el presidente Rafael Correa anticipó que vetaría la ley si la palabra ‘sexo’ era reemplazada por ‘género’, pues permitiría el matrimonio entre personas de igual sexo.

Pabón remarcó ayer en Radio Majestad que no será así pues eso es parte de otro debate.
