Para la Iglesia, la unión civil GLBTI es un ‘virus’.

Sábado 23 de agosto: El presidente Rafael Correa anuncia en la sabatina la inclusión de la nueva resolución N° 0174-DIGERCIC-DNAJ-2014 del Registro Civil. En el artículo 1 de esta resolución se deroga el contenido de otro dictamen, el DIGERCIC-DAJ-2010-0277, que prohibía el ingreso de las uniones de hecho al archivo magnético y, consecuentemente, a las cédulas de ciudadanía e identidad. Es decir, las parejas GLBTI que vivan en unión de hecho (notarizada y reconocida ante la ley) podrán inscribirla en el registro y constará en la cédula.

Domingo 24 de agosto: Los colectivos GLBTI aplauden la resolución y anuncian una campaña para instar a las parejas homosexuales o trans a que inscriban su unión de hecho y así poder acceder al beneficio de la resolución, disponible a partir del 15 de septiembre.

Días después, el 4 de septiembre, el monseñor Antonio Arregui, de la Arquidiócesis de Guayaquil, cuestionó la intención de las parejas GLBTI. “Todo lo que sea ir hacia un reconocimiento de la unión matrimonial entre personas del mismo sexo viene a ser una distorsión de la columna misma de la sociedad”, expresó en televisión nacional. Y agregó: “Entiendo que la actividad gay es incesante… es como un virus que penetra un organismo, es lamentable”.

Luego de las declaraciones, diversos grupos rechazaron que su actividad por los derechos GLBTI sea calificada de ‘virus’.

Hoy llega la respuesta de la Asociación Ateísta Ecuatoriana en apoyo a los colectivos gay y en repudio a lo dicho por el representante de la Iglesia católica.

La Asociación considera que lo dicho por Arregui es de tinte medieval: “Nuestro colectivo cree firmemente en el artículo número 1 de la Constitución de la República del Ecuador, donde manifiesta que Ecuador es un estado laico, y que, desde esta perspectiva, conocemos claramente que este tipo de declaraciones no puede influir en el goce de los derechos humanos, en este caso, de las poblaciones de la diversidad sexual”.

Indican que el reconocimiento de los derechos civiles a las familias diversas “no puede calificarse como distorsión”, puesto que ambos núcleos (heterosexuales y homosexuales) han existido desde hace décadas en la sociedad. En segundo lugar, consideran el calificativo de ‘virus’ como un insulto y discriminación a la comunidad GLBTI.

“Esto es una cuestión de derechos, no hay por qué tergiversar y más bien seguir avanzando en la conquista de derechos”, expresó Gustavo La Mota, presidente de la Asociación Ateísta Ecuatoriana.

Una de las temáticas que se discutirán en el Sínodo de Obispos, en octubre, en el Vaticano, será la conformación de las familias diversas. A inicios de año, monseñor Arregui mencionó a EL TELÉGRAFO que la Iglesia no excluye la intención maternal de los GLBTI, pero “lo que no está bien, no está bien nunca. Una unión entre personas del mismo sexo no es algo que responde a la naturaleza de la personalidad humana entre varón y mujer. La Iglesia nunca dirá que es una maravilla”.
