CUENCA HOY DESPATOLOGIZACIÓN DE LA TRANSEXUALIDAD

En los 80´ la Asociación Psiquiátrica Americana (APA) en Estados Unidos, registro un nuevo trastorno mental que denominó Trastorno de la Identidad de Género o identidad sexual, para describir a personas que manifestaban pertenecer al sexo opuesto al que habían sido asignadas al nacer o que decididamente exigían modificar sus características sexuales para adecuarlas al sexo opuesto al que se les asignó al nacer. Entonces la APA definió críterios y fue clasificando a lo trans como enfermedad mental.

LA CAMPAÑA O LUCHA SOBRE ESTE TEMA:

Buscamos que la Organización Mundial de la Salud y la APA, elimine de sus manuales de enfermedades al transexualismo y el travestismo, por considerar este tipo de clasificaciones estigmatizantes, arbitrarias y que desvían la atención del principal problema que enfrentan las personas trans, que es la transfobia o el rechazo social por manifestar una identidad que se escapa de la normas socialmente aceptadas para el sexo y el género.
