HOY SE INAUGURA EL PRIMER CENTRO DE SALUD TRANS-LÉSBICO
El 55% de la población GLBTI sin atención médica
Luego de un estudio realizado por Silueta X sobre la discriminación en temas de salud, determinaron la importancia de implementar un centro especializado que cuente con las áreas de psicología y el tratamiento de los padecimientos más comunes

Hoy se inaugura el primer Centro de Salud Trans-Lesbi de Guayaquil, el cual está orientado a la atención médica de minorías sexuales como gais, lesbianas, bisexuales, transexuales e intersexuales (GLBTI).
Diane Rodríguez -presidenta de la Asociación Silueta X, una de las principales agrupaciones impulsadoras de este punto de salud, indicó que el objetivo del centro, aparte de atender a un sector de la comunidad, es obtener cifras sobre sus condiciones de salud.
“El 55% de la población trans ha sido discriminado en un centro de salud. Por lo que la creación de este punto era necesario, aunque también fue complicado. Enviamos cartas a varios centros médicos privados pero ninguno respondió”, señaló Rodríguez.
La presidenta de Silueta X explicó que a través de las redes sociales el Dr. Vladimir Vélez, del Área de Salud N° 7, se contactó para colaborar con la iniciativa. “Después recibimos respuesta de la misma institución. Nos visitaron Roberto Pérez y Fausto Barragán, director y coordinador, respectivamente. Ellos revisaron el espacio que queríamos implementar y nos indicaron qué es lo que necesitábamos para funcionar adecuadamente”, comentó Diane.
Andrea Bravo, quien es integrante de Silueta X y colaborará como recepcionista en el nuevo punto médico, sostuvo que este proyecto es importante porque les permitirá un mejor seguimiento y tratamiento de sus enfermedades. “En teoría se supone que no debería haber discriminación cuando nos hacemos atender por un médico, pero en la práctica pasa lo contrario”, expresó Andrea.
Según Bravo, la creación de la entidad es oportuna porque para los GLBTI es incómodo realizarse chequeos médicos y que les nieguen la atención. “La discriminación muchas veces empuja a miembros de nuestra comunidad, especialmente a las trans femeninas, que se autoinyecten y no visiten a un endocrinólogo. Ya con un centro no se arriesgarían a inyectarse hormonas para verse físicamente como mujeres”, mencionó Bravo.
Agregó que las pocas veces que se ha atendido en un centro de salud, pareciera que no hubiera problema porque la ven como mujer. “Cuando llaman mi turno, lo hacen con mis nombres de hombre y me tratan como tal, ni siquiera les importa que en la ficha les indico que soy trans”.
Flavia Narváez, ingeniera en sistemas y transfemenina, resaltó que el problema con los hospitales, clínicas y centros de salud de la ciudad, es que cuando ven que es alguien de la comunidad GLBTI, los galenos demoran en atender o, como le ha sucedido, simplemente usan un tono burlón para dirigirse a ella.
“Una vez se me subió la presión arterial y me llevaron a una casa asistencial, hasta tuve que fingir que me desmayaba para que me atendieran después de 3 horas de espera. El punto es que no quieren tratarnos ni por la enfermedad más básica”, comentó Narváez.
La comunidad espera que en el nuevo centro reciban una mejor atención en las áreas de medicina general y psicología. Dependiendo de la acogida y la colaboración que reciban de otros galenos, en el futuro podrían implementar otras especialidades, como odontología.
Rodríguez destacó que al momento mantienen diálogos con los funcionarios del Área de Salud acerca del abastecimiento de los medicamentos que necesitarán en el dispensario .

According to Bravo, the creation of the entity is timely because it is uncomfortable for GLBTI medical checkups and deny them care. «Discrimination often pushes members of our community, especially trans women, which autoinyecten and visit to an endocrinologist. Already a center would not risk to be physically injected hormones and women, «said Bravo.
He added that the few times it has been treated at a health center, it seems that there was no problem because they see it as a woman. «When they call my turn, do it my man names and treat me as such, do not even care that I point the tab I’m trans».
Flavia Narvaez and transfemenina systems engineer, noted that the problem with hospitals, clinics and health centers in the city, is that when they see is someone GLBTI community, the doctors are slow to respond or, as has happened, simply use a mocking tone to address it.
«Once I went up the pressure and took me to a care home, until I had to pretend I fainted for attendent after 3 hours of waiting. The point is they do not want to treat the disease and most basic, «said Narvaez.
The community expects the new center receive better care in the areas of general medicine and psychology. Depending on the host and collaboration received from other doctors in the future could implement specialties, including dentistry.
Rodriguez said that at the time held talks with officials of the Department of Health about the supply of medicines needed in the clinic.
