Gays X

Community, wellbeing, information and rights for gay men.

Gays X is a community initiative of Asociación Silueta X created to connect gay men, share useful information, strengthen peer networks and provide accessible pathways to opportunities, wellbeing resources and rights protection.

You do not need to arrive with a complaint or a crisis. You can simply be looking for community, activities, information, opportunities or a place to learn what resources are available to you.

The WhatsApp community currently operates primarily in Spanish.

Diversity within diversity

There is no single gay experience.

Age, geography, income, ethnicity, disability, HIV status, migration, gender expression and family context can profoundly shape the experience of a gay man.

A dedicated community helps us hear those differences rather than flatten them into a single category.

Young people Identity, family, education, first relationships and growing independence.
Adults Work, relationships, wellbeing, health and social participation.
Migrants & displaced people New support networks, protection, integration and access to services.
Intersections Sexual orientation can intersect with poverty, racism, disability, HIV and other inequalities.

Information for the community

What Gays X is designed to share

🏳️‍🌈 Identity & rights Information about sexual orientation, equality, discrimination, violence and the exercise of rights.
❤️ Sexual health & prevention Responsible information on combination prevention, HIV, sexual wellbeing, stigma and access to appropriate resources.
🧠 Mental health Emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, relationships and connections to psychological support when needed.
💼 Opportunities Activities, employment, training, entrepreneurship, volunteering and professional development.
🌎 Migration & mobility Information and pathways for gay migrants, refugees and displaced people.
🤝 Community Activities, opportunities for participation and spaces that strengthen social connection.

Wellbeing also matters

Being gay does not require performing one version of masculinity

There is no single correct way to look, behave, dress, love or express masculinity.

Gays X also creates space to question prejudice and pressure surrounding bodies, age, gender expression, economic status, appearance and the ways people choose to live their sexual orientation.

Our principle

Your sexual orientation does not determine what your masculinity should look like — or your worth inside or outside the community.

Information without stigma

Talking about HIV and sexual health is also talking about rights

Gays X promotes responsible access to sexual-health and prevention information without treating HIV as an identity attached to gay men or reproducing the stigma historically directed at our communities.

Prevention Make reliable prevention information and service pathways easier to reach.
No stigma Challenge prejudice against people living with HIV and reinforce dignity and rights.
Referral Connect people who need specialized information with VIHX and other appropriate resources.

When information is not enough

Community is connected to specialized support

Gays X does not replace professional care. When legal, psychological, health or human-mobility needs arise, you can use the relevant institutional pathway directly.

For donors, funders and international partners

Funding community means sustaining the infrastructure that connects people with rights.

A WhatsApp community may look simple. Its real value lies in the institutional network behind it: information, prevention, early identification of needs, referrals, documentation, participation and advocacy.

Access A simple entry point for people who may not yet know which service they need.
Trust Make first contact easier before someone needs a formal institutional pathway.
Prevention Deliver information before health concerns, discrimination or violence become more severe.
Participation Hear directly from the community about emerging barriers, concerns and opportunities.

Why population-specific communities matter

“LGBT+” is not one experience

Broad LGBT+ programs remain essential, but the experiences of a trans woman, a trans man, a lesbian or a gay man are not interchangeable.

Population-specific networks can make differences in health, violence, discrimination, aging, migration, employment, mental wellbeing and social participation easier to identify.

Better listening produces better responses.

Support LGBT+ community infrastructure

Help us keep the pathways between community and rights open

Your support strengthens Asociación Silueta X’s community and human-rights infrastructure: information, prevention, documentation, referrals, participation and advocacy.

A WhatsApp group is a simple tool. The network behind it is what can turn one question into information, one concern into support, or one recurring barrier into evidence for change.
